Becoming Shameless: Body Deshaming Party

The fabulous Dr. Laura Jurgens , a local sex, relationship, and embodiment coach, will be leading us in some nervous system and more work to help us become shameless. How would it feel to be free of shame about your body and appearance? If you’d like to get closer to that, join us for this special community-building, de-shaming series. It is time to shed the baggage we all carry from a misogynistic culture.

These events are specifically for people who identify as women. We’re going to do embodied and connection-based exercises to release shame around our bodies and looks. Activities will include somatic, mindset, and connection-based exercises that release shame in the mind and body. You will shed judgment about yourself and others. You will tap into some parts of yourself you may not have met before. You will leave feeling more free, more accepted, more resourced, and more connected.

Bring your authentic self, a notebook and pen/pencil, and willingness to be honest with yourself, to listen to others with empathy, and to challenge your old habits and judgments with compassion. Wear comfy clothes as we will be sitting on meditation cushions.

This series is led by dual-certified somatic relationship & embodiment coach Dr. Laura Jurgens.

Free, limited to 25 participants. Must RSVP through Meetup at https://www.meetup.com/women-becoming-shameless-avl/events/300757820/?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=share-btn_savedevents_share_modal&utm_source=link

The Treehouse Retreat

  • Mad Genius Studios: The Treehouse (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

This retreat during the awe-inspiring leaf-peeping season in gorgeous Asheville, North Carolina will help you unlock your mad genius and build your legacy. A very special 4 day/3 night intimate, explorative experience with a small group so we can dive in to every aspect of your legacy. We will be doing lots of visioning, journaling, creating, communing, and playful activities. You will leave knowing yourself and your true intentions, dreams, and the lifestyle you want to live intimately. A powerful, life-affirming retreat in the middle of West Asheville at Mad Genius Studio’s unique retreat property affectionately dubbed “The Treehouse.” Limited to 7 guests.

Day 1: Arrivals and welcome dinner and circle

Day 2: Art hike and foraging tour/dinner

Day 3: Self-care bonanza, cooking class, and glam photo shoot plus dinner and music out

Day 4: Morning activity and goodbye brunch

Things to note:

Part of this experience is to completely get you out of your norm and into your body and in the present moment. We have created a safe, encouraging, and warm space for everyone to feel comfortable being their most vulnerable selves. You will rotate between the 7 sleeping areas each evening as each one will have different prompts and touches to unlock different answers, questions, and ideas, and we encourage everyone to pack light and dress mostly in comfortable lounge clothes. Phones will be collected at breakfast and returned after dinner to further encourage you to go deep within yourself and get the most out of this special retreat. This is not a luxury experience but rather a warm, homey, comforting, and inviting space that has plenty of common-area nooks including a sauna, hammock, firepit, and covered deck so you have space to process in-between activities and have deep conversations with other attendees as we form our own circle of community with ties that will last a lifetime.

Led by long-time serial entrepreneur Shawndra Russell, owner of Mad Genius Studios and HarmonyAVL+media and co-founder of InvestHER Asheville and Women in Trades Hub. Inspired by her personal journey to self-actualization, each participant will receive The Legacy Project workbook that will guide our time together. Shawndra is a long-time leader, educator, coach, and perpetual cheerleader who believes we are all mad geniuses and just need the safe spaces, time, and encouragement to unlock all of our gifts, the vision we have for our lives and how we want to change the world. Other specially-curated guests will lead us in certain activities and experiences that will soothe and uplift and help unlock our deepest desires.

Cost: $2800 includes all meals, lodging, activities, and transportation during the retreat (guests are responsible for arrival/departure). Save $200 with early bird pricing through May 15. Limited to 7 guests.

Where Do We Go From Here? Women's Town-Hall Style Breakfast

To cap off our 3-part “Co-Creating Our Future” Series, we will host a women’s breakfast to cap off Election Week and discuss where we as women in Asheville go from here regardless of the election outcome. We want to hear about as many issues, and as many pitches, and as many ideas as possible, so come ready with your 1-2 minute concern that specifically impacts women in business. Our goal is to get a heartbeat on how women are feeling going into 2025, where they need support, and what issues we need to help tackle next year and beyond.

We will also reflect back on the past year and what the women’s ecosystem has been able to accomplish by intentionally reaching out and deepening connections. We will talk about businesses that have launched, expanded, circles formed, and other achievements among our community.

SHOW HER THE MONEY addresses how women are getting less than 2% of venture capital funding and demystifies what venture capital is.

The film follows four visionary founders as they endure uphill battles to turn their ideas into reality. In spite of their dedication and passion constantly being challenged, these women, with the financial support and mentorship of their angel investors, become even more determined, resourceful and resilient, and the growth of their businesses is mind-blowing.

Flourish Asheville (Closed Group)

From the organizer: Networking - The way you always hoped it would be!

No one is positioning themselves to be the loudest voice in the room.

No competition.

Simply, a group of women who support each other, and by doing so, they grow personally and professionally.

Only one business type is represented at each meeting - RSVP Required - email to missy@missyfrischcoaching.com

We'd love to have you join us at our next Flourish meeting! In April we made some great connections and Christy Bell did an awesome presentation on long term care insurance. If you know anyone who could use help with that type of planning, Christy is passionate and knowledgeable on the issue and can be reached at csbell@ft.newyorklife.com.

Please email missy@missyfrischcoaching.com to check availability to register your business. The purpose of this is to make sure we only have one business type represented each month. This goes a long way in creating a non-competitive environment that makes our meetings relaxing and enjoyable for everyone. Thanks so much and as always, let me know if you have any questions!

Looking forward to connecting with you all soon!

Cheers,

Missy
